Who Pays Taxes?

‚ÄčAccording to a report from the Tax Policy Center, the top 1% , with 17% of income, paid 45.7% of the total taxes collected, using data from 2014.   The top 20% of wage earners paid 83% of taxes collected.  The top 50% of tax payers paid 97% of income taxes.   So what does "pay their fair share" mean?   For details, click here and here.

Taxes: The federal government consumes 25% of the economic resources of the country, compared to an annual average of 20% since the 1960's.   Add all state and local taxes, and consumers are giving up 40% or more of annual income to the public sector. Tax cuts reduce the power of government and give consumers more control of their money.  Whether spending or saving, consumers are the best stimulus of economic growth.  Support candidates who promote lower taxes.
